EASTHAM BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
THURSDAY APRIL 24 , 2008 AT
3: p.m.
PRESENT: Paul Lothrop, Chairman, Dr.Stan Holt, Beverly Knox,
Pat Lariviere, Dr. James Taylor, Jane Crowley, Health Agent
OPENING STATEMENTS:
The Health Agent informed the Board that rabies vaccine distribution would
take place April 28 through May 2 in the towns of Yarmouth, Dennis, Brewster, Harwich, Chatham ,Orleans, Eastham , Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown.
Two configurations of vaccine will be distributed: A sachet and a bait block, both contain the same amount of vaccine.
Jane Crowley also told the Board that she attended the Health Agent Forum on Tick Borne Diseases held in Hyannis on April 18, 2008 sponsored by the MA. Department of Public Health. She said it was very informative, the speaker Panel included Physician Members of the Cape and Islands Lyme Disease Task Force.

III Request Reduction of Testing Secondary Treatment:

Mr Nolan made the request to reduce the testing of his 2 year old septic system from 4 times per year to 2 times per year.
Beverly Knox made the motion to approve this request to allow testing of your septic tank effluent for total nitrogen BOD, TSS, PH, and nitrate-nitrogen (not to exceed 19mg/l) from 4 times per year to 2 times per year.
Dr. Taylor seconded the motion.

Richard Raftery 40 Huckleberry Lane Map-7 Parcel-338
Mr. Raftery made the request to reduce the testing of his septic system from 4 times per year to 2 times per year
Dr. Taylor made the motion to approve this request to allow testing of the septic tank effluent for total nitrogen BOD, TSS, PH, and nitrate-nitrogen (not to exceed 19mg/l from 4 times per year to 2 times per year.)
Pat Lariviere seconded the motion .

Kevin & Elizabeth Barry 15 Hide Away Lane Map-7A Parcel-28
Mr.& Mrs. Barry made the request to reduce testing of their septic system due to seasonal nature and limited use of their property. The Board required that this property be tested 2 times per year for a minimum of three years. After 4 consecutive tests if each one follows at least 30 days or more of occupancy further reductions may be requested. If the use of the property changes the Health Board requested to be informed to correct information about the Microfast system.
Dr. James Taylor made the motion to approve the request with the aforementioned conditions.
Dr. Stan Holt seconded the motion.

Jane Crowley made a presentation updating the Board about I/A Systems (innovative alternative) in Eastham and how well these systems are performing. As of April 2008 - 126 systems are permitted
